National Roll-Out of Multimedios TV, Milenio TV & Teleritmo on Verizon

MIAMI (December 13, 2011) – Grupo Multimedios has signed an agreement with Verizon for the company’s FiOS TV service to carry all three of Multimedios’ channels.

The three networks will become available to Verizon FiOS TV’s 3.5 million residential and business customers nationwide beginning on December 15, 2011 – 24/7 news network Milenio Television on channel #1550, entertainment and family channel Multimedios Television on channel #1550 and Regional Mexican Music channel Teleritmo on channel #1666.

“Verizon FiOS TV is committed to providing the very best in multicultural entertainment, and the Multimedios networks offer a nice addition to our growing channel lineup,” said Terry Denson, Vice President of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon. “The new channels will certainly enhance the viewing experience for our customers.”

This is the first time that Grupo Multimedios’ three channels have gone live simultaneously on a TV provider.

In Mexico, the 24/7 news network Milenio Television trounces direct competitors and during periods of high engagement with the news, Milenio Television periodically tops all cable and satellite channels. Centered on an hourly breaking-news cycle, Milenio Television constantly offers fresh content and experienced reporting from its nationwide team of reporters.

The agreement with Verizon FiOS was negotiated by Gustavo Mena, a former distribution executive at CBS Cable and Telemundo/NBC who handles Multimedios’ cable and satellite distribution in the U.S. “Over 63% of Hispanics are of Mexican origin, and Multimedios, one of the best sources of original broadcast quality programming from Mexico is extremely pleased to partner with Verizon Fios TV in reaching so many families across America,” said Gustavo Mena.

With over two-thirds of U.S. Latinos, the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population, being of Mexican heritage, Multimedios TV is plugged in to a long-term growth story.

Recently making headlines with its must-watch series Méteme Gol (Score Me a Goal), Multimedios Television delivers all-original programming for every age group. From kids’ shows to fashion to comedies, Multimedios Television makes viewers feel “as if you were in Mexico.”

A trusted name in Mexico for generations, Grupo Multimedios began making its much-anticipated U.S. rollout in 2009, with launches at major cable systems in San Francisco, Chicago, Houston and Boston, among others. The momentum continued in 2010 with additions in Los Angeles, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and El Paso, plus many more. As cable systems retooled their Spanish-language lineups to match what viewers were demanding, Grupo Multimedios’ channels rose to the top of their must-add list.

Following an October 2011 launch of Multimedios TV on Cablevision, Verizon Fios TV joins the growing list of Multimedios Networks distribution partners that include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, and AT&T U-verse.

MIAMI (February 1, 2011) – On the heels of 2010 that saw Multimedios Networks close new carriage agreements with Cox Communications, AT&T U-verse, Verizon Fios and Charter Communications, the Mexican media conglomerate is poised to ramp up its coast-to-coast roll-out in 2011.

Gustavo Mena, a former distribution executive at CBS Cable and Telemundo/NBC who handles Multimedios’ cable and satellite distribution in the U.S., says the new deals position the net for continued growth: “We had a great 2010, closing deals with Cox, Charter, AT&T and Verizon and are happy to welcome our new distribution partners that join Comcast and Time Warner Cable… we are thrilled about the exciting new launches that are taking place on a local and national level during 2011.”

Multimedios three nets that includes Multimedios Television, Milenio Television and Teleritmo, the only music channel in the market that is produced and transmitted from Monterrey, the capital of Mexican regional music, target Mexicans, the largest and fastest growing demographic that comprises over 70% of the Hispanic population in the U.S. market.

Following launches by Comcast and Time Warner Cable in major markets throughout the country, in 2010 Multimedios also launched on TWC systems in New York and New Jersey and nationally on AT&T U-verse. Multimedios is now available in 9 of the top 10 Hispanic Television markets.

The new HD programming includes the daily live morning women-centric “Vivalavi” featuring celebrity interviews, beauty, health and music; and “Milenio Noticias con Ciro Gómez Leyva” one of the highest rated cable news shows in Mexico.

Multimedios Networks are part of Grupo Multimedios, the third-largest producer of original Spanish-language programming in Mexico. The Mexican media conglomerate includes 37 AM and FM radio stations; 9 broadcast TV stations; three TV networks; a 300,000-subscriber triple play cable operator; 12 local, regional and national newspapers; a pair of national magazines; outdoor advertising; music concert venues, and amusement parks.

Miami, Monday Feb 8, 2010

The Nielsen Ratings are in and the 2010 Super Bowl ratings make it the most watched television program in history. Super Bowl XLIV had 106.5 million viewers according to Nielsen Media.

After a 40 year history of being one of the most losing franchises in professional football the New Orleans Saints became the 2010 Super Bowl Champions and, it was a spectacular game, absolutely magical, inspiring and a true Rocky Balboa only-in-America, come-up-from-behind kind of story.

Four years ago New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who was himself recovering from a career threatening shoulder injury, accepted the offer to go to New Orleans from San Diego. He found a common bond with a city that was recovering from Katrina.

On camera, immediately after the game, when a CBS correspondent asked Brees how they were able to pull off this come-back, he said “We just believed in ourselves, we knew that we had an entire city, maybe an entire country behind us … it was all meant to be, it was destiny… God is great!”

I grew up in uptown New Orleans, attended St. Francis of Assisi grammar school on State Street, De La Salle High School and Loyola University on St. Charles Avenue, and the University of New Orleans (UNO) at the lakefront.

Last week prior to Sunday’s game I was in a business meeting in New York City with executives of a one of the leading cable TV companies. Someone asked me who I liked in the Super Bowl and I said “I grew up in New Orleans, I want the Saints to win… I have family there, they fled Katrina, returned, rebuilt their homes but are still angry and bitter about the failed rescue response and aftermath… more than anything else winning the Super Bowl will give the city a much needed lift in morale.”

Just like the city’s star celebrity’s Ellen Degeneres, Harry Connick Jr, Wynton Marsalis and just about anyone else who has ever lived there, I love New Orleans.

I return at least twice a year to my hometown, typically for Thanksgiving or Christmas and for the Jazz Festival. I love the French Quarter and I love walking with my family under the canopy of centuries old oak trees draped in Spanish moss in Audubon Park. I love eating Cajun style food, listening to great music at Tipitinas and Snug Harbor, and drinking pitchers of local beer with my brothers at Cooder Browns. I love having early morning coffee with my wife at La Madeline’s French bakery where St. Charles and Carrolton Avenue meet.

For its colorful centuries old history and for its local color New Orleans is truly in a class of its own. There is nothing like New Orleans, it is indeed a national treasure … I just love it and based on the history making Nielsen Ratings of the 2010 Super Bowl so does America!

Winning the Super Bowl has huge significance for a city that had still not gotten over the devastation of Katrina. When Saints owner Tom Benson, accepted the Super Bowl trophy, he hoisted it over his head and shouted “New Orleans is back, Louisiana is back!”

Interviewed by Shepard Smith of Fox News, Louisiana Senator David Vitter (Rep) said that the Saints Super Bowl win was much more than winning a football championship, “… it is a spiritual revival for New Orleans, the Saints had lost for so long, many of us questioned in our sub-conscious if we could ever be winners, after Katrina many wondered if the city would ever rebuild, this victory answers all of that in resounding tones!”

Watching the game with my wife and kids in our Miami home, we let out shouts of joy as Saints cornerback Tracy Porter (#22) intercepted a Peyton Manning pass in the 4th Quarter and raced to a triumphant touchdown that sealed the Saints 31-17 victory over the Colts… it was awesome!

The next morning my 11 and 13 year old kids proudly wore their New Orleans Saints jerseys to school.

I am really happy that New Orleans now has the opportunity to move forward and leave the Katrina anger and bitterness behind… that New Orleans has something else to talk about… something that is truly positive, uplifting and inspiring… the New Orleans Saints, like the City of New Orleans, are the Super Bowl Champions, have defied all odds and are true winners!

Bravo Saints!!

Bravo New Orleans!!!

Network Part Of El Paquetazo, El Paquetazo Dos Packages

Laura Martinez — Multichannel News, 11/18/2009 11:26:33 AM

Multimedios Television, the Monterrey, Mexico-based TV network, has rolled out its service onto Time Warner Cable system in Los Angeles, the nation’s largest Hispanic market. Multimedios, now available on channel 804, joins Time Warner Cable’s El Paquetazo and El Paquetazo Dos programming tiers.

The deal for Multimedios, terms of which were not disclosed, follows Multimedios and sister music channel TeleRitmo’s recent roll out on Comcast systems in San Jose, Oregon, Detroit and Washington State.

“This has been a very good year for us, as we’ve been able to launch our networks from coast to coast,” says Gustavo Mena, who handles Multimedios Television’s cable and satellite distribution in the U.S. Nationwide, Multimedios is available in over 1 million U.S. households.

Multimedios Television, a privately held company, is also close to striking a deal with Comcast for carriage of Milenio Televisión, a 24/7 all Spanish-language news network, which premiered October 2008 in Mexico. According to Mena, the deal will be finalized as soon as this week.

In addition to its continuing carriage negotiations, Multimedios Television is offering MSOs over 1,000 hours of programming available for VOD, including 500 hours of original children’s programming and an additional 500 hours of Lucha libre (wrestling), hailing from the company’s own wrestling stadium in Monterrey, la Arena Coliseo.

Yesterday at 7:50 am on the way to St. Peter & Paul School, I turned to Magda, my partner in UNO and my partner in life, a career music marketing executive (Universal, Warner, EMI) who has developed and worked with some of the biggest artists in the business, and said in a flash of universe-type of insight that you can’t explain, but that you know is absolutely true… “Brianna is going to EXPLODE!”.

At that point our 12 and 10 year old Disney/Nickleodeon reared kids sitting in the back seat of the Ford Expedition burst out with incredulous laughter… “BRIANNA (who they LOVE) IS GOING TO EXPLODE???”… and I said, “Yeah Brianna is a MONSTER”… and they howled some more.

What I meant to say is that Brianna de Alba is a beautiful, charismatic and hugely talented singer-songwriter-actress that given the right platform, given the fact that she is truly representative of the nation’s fastest growing demo… US-born English-speaking 2nd generation Hispanic (Mexican)-American tweens and teens… will EXPLODE into the HUGE POP ARTIST and MEDIA STAR that is her destiny.

And that’s all I have to say about that… check out Brianna de Alba for yourself.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 24, 2009

Teenager Brianna de Alba takes center stage in a tween-teen concert tour

UNO Entertainment gives us a live preview of a prolific, singer-songwriter-actress who has exciting projects in the works

America’s next Great Generation – today’s tweens and teens – is impressive in many ways. Previous generations came of age with angst, anger, or apathy… but the Millennials are different. They serve their country, study hard, volunteer, and help out their communities.

Teen singer and actress Brianna de Alba, represents all that’s inspiring about young America. She’s always had a passion for songwriting, and she dedicates herself to following her creative sensitivity and perfecting her craft. She’s got sharp fashion style, a positive attitude and a family-centered outlook.

With her dedication to others, she’s proud to be headlining Jeans Bring Dreams, a tween-teen oriented, socially conscious concert series with the first event taking place on Saturday, October 10 in Clovis, California.

The 2009-2010 Jeans Bring Dreams concert tour in California includes five dates in Los Angeles as well as shows in Hollywood, Santa Barbara, Del Mar, San Ramon and Santa Cruz.

Among a show line-up that includes Nickelodeon and Disney talents, Brianna de Alba is the only Hispanic-American artist performing at this event. She’ll be introducing several of her original songs, including “When We Believe,” the theme song for the Jeans Bring Dreams campaign.

Jeans Bring Dreams encourages young people ages 8 to 19 to help the less fortunate by donating a pair of their gently worn jeans at the event. Kids who donate will get exclusive access to the Meet & Greet area for pictures and autographs with the performers.

“‘When We Believe’ is an up-tempo, feel-good song,” Brianna de Alba says. Its hook features the phrase, “there’s strength in numbers when we believe/what we dream we can achieve.”

“We are indeed very pleased to have found such a talented California born teen representing the Hispanic community – Brianna de Alba; at a time where inspiration and direction are much needed. Her contribution in writing the theme song for Jeans Bring Dreams represents the mission and purpose for our concert series very well. It is a great honor to work with her and her team.” says Dina Thomas-Virrueta, president and founder of Dekoposh, Inc. producer of the Jeans Bring Dreams concert series.

Brianna is also now in pre-production on an upcoming high-school comedy/drama TV series that features an ensemble teenage cast. We can’t tell you the show’s name or who her collaborators are just yet, but the series producers, directors and writers are top talents in the business and some exciting announcements are coming.

Many of Brianna de Alba’s songs are slated to be used in the TV series, and some of the episodes are being written around the stories in her songs. “I’ve written about 30 songs in the past year,” she says, adding that the gift of songwriting comes at the price of feeling emotions very powerfully.

The TV series will provide a humoristic/realistic look into the lives of young teens that are attending a top performing-arts academy and going through the daily emotional roller-coaster that is adolescent life.

Tall, poised and confident, Brianna de Alba is the daughter of Mexican immigrants and has much in common with the fastest growing segment of the population, young US born Hispanic-American tweens and teens.

Don’t miss this chance to see a star in the making at one of her first headlining concerts.
